Who Is: Etienne Brodeur

The QMJHL's Lewiston MAINEacs are a team that contains a few NHL-drafted players (Michael Chaput, Kirill Kabanov, Samuel Carrier) and seems to be scoring by committee (9 players with more than 25 points and 2 players that are close to a point-per-game); however, one player on their roster caught my attention.

Etienne Brodeur, a 5'8" left winger, is in his third season with the MAINEacs. In his previous two seasons, Brodeur amassed 66 points and 218 PIM in 130 games. This season, however, Brodeur has shown major improvements and has stepped up as Lewiston's top offensive contributor with 62 points and 47 PIM in 47 games.

What shocked me most about Brodeur were his goal totals: going into this season with 28 career QMJHL goals, Etienne has already scored 38 this season - twice as many as Lewiston's #2 goal-scorer, Michael Chaput.

Brodeur is another guy I can't see getting drafted due to his size, but, again, I believe he is one that NHL GMs will be inviting to camp to give a test run.
